- Terrestrial plants evolved from Fresh Water Algae.
- The biggest challenge faced by plants as they colonized, land was adapting to the changes that the terrestrial (land) required. Dehydration, fertilization outside of aquatic environments and stability to support a gradual increase in size were some problem. Dehydration was solved when the wax, cutting evolved into the structure of the plant. The wax covered the plant and prevented water from escaping on the stomata and guard calls came about to help trap water. As to fertilization, it took over 100 million years and had created a way to fertilize with the presences of water.
